Turkey is bordered on three sides with water, it follows therefore that transport by sea has always played a major role in providing access to Turkey. Of course, the quickest way to reach Turkey is by plane, Turkish Airlines have provided international services from most major cities in the world for many years.

Ferries therefore continue to play an important role in providing access to Turkey for both passengers and vehicles.

These webpage's bring together all the main international ferry services that are currently available, as well as discontinued services and ferry services within Turkey.

Since the beginning of time, travelers to this land that is now Turkey, traditionally arrived at a more leisurely pace, by sea. Whether from the Black Sea to the North, or from the warmer waters of the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas to the west and south, visitors are first greeted by rugged pine covered mountains that grow ever larger as Turkey becomes a reality. For those who want to follow in the footsteps of visitors from past civilizations who have explored this part of the world for more than 5000 years, there is still no better way to arrive than by boat.
 

Reservations can be made on most of the routes included here. However, even if we are not able to make reservations at the present time, or if pre-booking is not available, we have included whatever information we have to help you with your travel planning.

DIRECT FERRY SERVICES
There is now only one ferry company we can recommend that offers direct vehicle and passenger ferry services between Italy and Turkey.

These services are available between April and October on the following routes:
· Ancona - Cesme.
· Brindisi - Cesme.
 

INDIRECT FERRY SERVICES
There is a wider selection of ferry services between Italy and Greece that connect with Greek ferry services. From some of the Greek Islands there are ferry services to Turkey.

We receive many inquiries for ferry routes that are either 'not available', 'have been discontinued', or 'we are not able to make reservations', as follows:

NOT AVAILABLE:
· Turkey to South Cyprus, (Greek occupied sector).
· Turkey to Crete. (Available route, TURKEY-RHODES-CRETE)
· Turkey (Istanbul), to destinations in Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Romania.
· Italy to Istanbul, Marmaris, Bodrum, Kusadasi or any other port in Turkey other than CESME.
· Italy to Athens.
· Athens to Turkey. (Available route, via the Greek Islands of LESBOS, CHIOS, SAMOS, KOS or RHODES).

DISCONTINUED:
· Venice to Izmir. (Available route, ANCONA to CESME).
· Brindisi to Izmir. (Available route, BRINDISI to CESME).
· Istanbul to Turkish Black Sea Ports.

WE CANNOT MAKE RESERVATIONS ON THE FOLLOWING ROUTES:
· Turkey (Silifke or Mersin) to NORTH CYPRUS, (Girne, Turkish occupied sector).
· ITALY (Venice, Ancona, Bari, Brindisi), to GREECE (Igoumenitsa, Patras). We recommend Blue Star Ferries.
 

Reservations are made in your name, we issue either a voucher by email or we send the tickets by trackable DHL Worldwide Express.

· Reservations are not always required, we will advise based on the travel date, and the crossing required.
· Reservations are recommended for vehicles on all international routes.
· During the peak season, July-August, and on public holidays, reservations are essential for all passenger and vehicle crossings.
 

· Details of all our payment options are available here, however for ITALY-TURKEY routes, payment is required in €URO, we are therefore unable to accept payment by credit card or in any other currency, unless we receive authority to add currency conversion commission charges to the amount authorized for the ticket.

Passage accommodation options available on overnight, and long distance ferries are normally as follows:

A2 = 2 person cabin, A3 = 3 person cabin,  A4 = 4 person cabin.

· Luxury Cabins are on the upper decks with window and private bathroom facilities, Lux2., Lux3 or Lux4.
· A-Cabins, upper deck, outside with porthole, private W/C bathroom, A2, A3 or A4.
· B-Cabins, upper deck, inside with no window, private W/C bathroom, B2, B3 or B4.
· C-Cabins, lower deck, inside, with no window, hand basin, shared W/C bathroom, C2, C3 or C4.
· D-Cabins, lower deck, inside, with no window, shared W/C bathroom, D2, D3 or D4.
 

Discounts are available on certain ferry routes, we will include details in our quotation.
Some discounts cannot be added together. Generally, but not always, discounts apply as follows:

· Discount on the return crossing, only if both the outward and return passage is booked at the same time.
· Senior citizens, 60 years or older.
· Families. (All passengers must have the same surname).
· Students. (Maximum 28 years of age).
· Children 4 to 11 years.
· Babies 0 to 3 years.
 

Port taxes are payable on international departures, these are either included in the ticket price or are payable direct to the port authority on departure.

· Details will be clearly defined in our booking details and payment options.
· Discounts do not apply to port taxes.
· The full port tax is payable by senior citizens, children and babies.
· Port taxes are waived on some 'day return' trips between the Turkish Resorts and the Greek Islands.
